London 1 is part of a campus of two facilities in London's East India Dock. Formerly a printing works, the site was totally redeveloped to set a new standard for datacenter environments. It was opened in late 1999 and became the model for all subsequent developments.

With a total of 23,420 square metres (252,089 sq ft) of space, Global Switch London 1 provides scalable space solutions to support every technical real estate need now, and into the future. The facility also offers:

Our datacenter facility at Global Switch London 1 provides unsurpassed levels of security along with physical measures to protect the safety and reliability of services.  State of the art fire suppression systems, based upon Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms to sense heat and smoke before you can even smell it. Accessibility and reliability is key throughout, with raised flooring, scalable power expansion, and of course the facility is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year by experienced staff. Main connectivity coming into the suite is Dual GigE to both Telehouse North and East.
