A guide to web hosting

What do I need to have a site online?

Essentially, you need three things to have a site online: The files which make up the website, a domain name, and a hosting account. We provide the last two - a domain name, and your own account on one of our servers, to which you upload your files. We provide a range of hosting account types from shared hosting to dedicated servers, to suit all types of usage.

Each of our hosting packages come with a free domain registration or transfer, so even if you've never had any sort of website before, we can provide you with everything you need to start building your website!

We offer a lot of packages, and we understand that this can be very confusing. As such, we have written this guide, which briefly outlines our product range and whom each option is suitable for.

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is the most common form of web hosting: your account is stored on a fast server with other shared hosting clients, and you are provided with your own login details to your account. Every shared hosting package comes with a full online control panel called cPanel, which lets you manage your account quickly and easily including tasks such as setting up e-mail accounts, adding databases and viewing your visitor statistics.

Reseller Hosting

Reseller hosting allows you to do two things. Firstly, you can control multiple accounts, each with its own separate domain name and login details. Reseller hosting is an excellent option if you have a collection of websites, as it often works out cheaper and more convenient than purchasing multiple shared hosting accounts.

Secondly, it allows you to resell web hosting yourself, and look like a truly professional outfit – you can provide your users with their own login details to their own cPanel control panel, while we take care of managing the server. All our reseller accounts are 'unbranded' - your clients don't need to know we even exist.
